Left unchecked, ivy and other climbers can engulf trees, walls, gutters and entire houses. Properly managed, they're beautiful — and we know the difference.
On trees, heavy ivy adds weight, hides defects from view, and can eventually outcompete the host. We carefully cut the ivy at the base and around the lower trunk so the climbing growth above dies back naturally over the following months, without ripping bark off a living tree.
On buildings, we remove ivy, wisteria and Virginia creeper from brickwork, render, soffits and gutters, taking care to lift it away cleanly rather than tearing pointing out with it. We can also prune mature climbers like wisteria back into shape on a regular schedule to keep them flowering and well-behaved.
